Course Description

If you have no experience with Zoom or have been asked to set up a Zoom call for the first time, this free online course is ideal for you. Even if you have used Zoom before and know the basics, you will still find some of the higher-level tutorials very helpful. You will be able to create ‘breakout rooms’ in Zoom as well as adjust advanced settings for an optimal experience.

This course uses the free version of Zoom that is available to everyone but also covers the enhanced features that only paying users can access as well as using Zoom on a PC or Mac. You will be taken through the importance of Zoom and how it is used for video sharing, conferencing and meetings. The course describes how to host or join a meeting in Zoom, and the differences between scheduling a meeting and organizing an ad-hoc meeting.

Finally, you will be taken through the screen-sharing, chatting and recording options and learn how to set different virtual backgrounds and filters. Knowledge of how to use Zoom optimally is crucial if you are working from home, a member of a blended workforce or simply want to catch up with friends and family who live far away. Being skilled at using Zoom will stand you in good stead for a smoother working life if you are separate from your colleagues, students and even mentees.
