Course Description

App Inventor 2 is a user-friendly, visual programming environment that lets anyone, including beginners, create fully functioning apps for smartphones and tablets. Those new to App Inventor 2 may soon see their simple first app up and running. This course aims to illustrate the main principles of Android application creation for students with any degree of computing knowledge. It starts by presenting the application we will develop: an auto-reply text messaging app.

First, you will discover how to store and retrieve information from a database on our Android device using the TinyDB component. Next, you will explore our texting component, which lets us send and receive text messages. From there, you will learn our Spinner component, which allows us to pick an item from a predefined list. You will also ;learn the meaning of our Timepicker and text-to-speech components. Using App Inventor 2, we'll guide you through dynamically showing and hiding components.

The following section describes the Google Play Market. You will learn everything you need to know about getting your App Inventor 2 apps onto the Google Play Store or the Android market. How to create a Google Play developer account will be explained. Also, you will discover how to publish your App Inventor 2 application to the Google Play Store with a step-by-step process that takes you from the App Inventor 2 home page to publishing your app. Once your application is on the Google Play Store, you will probably want to understand how to update it.
