3D Game Development using Modern OpenGL

Course Description

This course has been created to arm game developers with the techniques needed to develop 3D games using modern OpenGL. OpenGL is the core framework of computer games across all platforms including mobile phones, desktop computers, and game consoles. It begins by showing you how to set up OpenGL on a Windows machine. You will learn the absolute and relative linking methods of setting up GLFW, SDL and GLEW on a Windows machine and Mac OS. You will also be shown how to install SFML on Windows and a Mac.

The course introduces you to shader files: you will be shown how to draw a triangle in OpenGL and apply shaders to it. Next, see how to load textures, be introduced to transformations, and learn how to set the positions of objects in an OpenGL scene. Next, you will learn about camera effects. Study how to implement the camera class, process the mouse movement, and implement the function prototypes. This course also teaches the basics of colors and lighting in OpenGL, including point light, directional and spot lights, and how to combine them. You will learn how to load models and how to set up ASSIMP on a Windows machine using CMake. See how to set up the mesh clash, make cube maps and implement a skybox to make the game more realistic.

3D game development is the art of designing and creating interactive cross-platform games for entertainment purposes. 3D games are represented graphically in the three dimensions of height, width, and depth. The course is designed to equip game developers with the skills and techniques required to develop 3D games. Take this free course today and give your game development career a boost!
